Mezzaluna Bangkok at the State Tower Hotel is a truly exceptional fine dining restaurant. Located on the 65th floor of Tower Club at lebua it is famed for its set menus that come in four or seven courses only, Mezzaluna impresses with a new daily menu of world-class haute cuisine prepared by a visionary chef. Chef Ryuki Kawasaki has worked his way around the world in a game of ‘who’s who’ with culinary giants including Pierre Gagnaire and Joel Robuchon, so it’s fair to say we had sky-high expectations on our latest visit – all of which were exceeded with aplomb.
This is an expensive restaurant (4,900 baht for 4 courses, 5,900 baht for 7 courses), but if you are looking to dazzle someone on a special occasion, Mezzaluna has it all.
Sitting pretty in the top of the golden dome on the 65th floor, the views at Mezzaluna top any other restaurant in Bangkok, and the service – dedicated and graceful – appeals to the most sophisticated of sensibilities. Chairs are held for you, jackets are hung for you, drinks are discreetly refilled, the menu is explained in precise detail, while the low lights are designed not to detract from the spectacular view. A string quartet greets you on arrival with gentle, melodic music.
Applying French culinary techniques to an eclectic variety of world dishes, Chef Ryuki Kawasaki creates recipes that are elegant and visually stunning. Flavours are distinctive with each ingredient almost blooming on the palate. Our honest opinion: Chef Ryuki is a master of his craft.
Tower Club at lebua is an iconic hotel located close to Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain Station and the riverside. You can see its golden dome from miles around and is always a nice feeling to look up and think ‘I ate up there’. It’s undeniable that Mezzaluna is one of the finest restaurants in Bangkok, and even the most particular of gourmet enthusiasts will find this experience unforgettable.
