Gardens Of Dinsor Palace Restaurant

The spectacular “Gardens of Dinsor Palace” is a restaurant set within the house and grounds of a former royal mansion in the Ekkamai (Sukhumvit Soi 63) area of Bangkok. The pan-European menu is complemented by lovingly maintained gardens, swans preening themselves in the pond, and peacocks, bunny rabbits and doves in a large aviary visible through a fully glass-walled side of the house.

Built in 1930 for a royal princess, the house itself is made up of a coffee shop, downstairs dining room and several private rooms upstairs each with their own balcony. The Gardens of Dinsor Palace is fantastic for a large gathering of friends or family and it comes as no surprise that it is very popular with wedding groups. The menu is full of tasty options and is very reasonably priced. It is also a bit scattergun in approach, but considering they are used to large groups with disparate tastes this is no bad thing.

The Gardens of Dinsor Palace is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner so no matter what time of day you can enjoy this lovely setting. Brunch is served until 14:00 (the coffee shop remains open all day) with a special set menu available on weekends costing around 400 baht for three-courses. That’s unbelievable value considering the quality of the food and setting.

Dinner starts from 17:00 and there is a little something for everyone. On the dinner menu is everything from salads, pizzas, hearty dishes like rack of ribs with espresso barbeque sauce and thick potato wedges (450 baht for half a rack), linguine Carbonara (320 baht), but we think it’s best to go for the more sophisticated French dishes on the menu as this what the kitchen team do best.

The Gardens salad (270 baht) comes with feta cheese, soft boiled egg and a sharp lemon vinaigrette which tastes so fresh thanks to the small organic lettuce farm they have next to the kitchen. Follow that up with the baked butter fish with orange jus, raisins, eggplant and firm cherry tomatoes (490 baht). The fillet of fish has a meaty consistency similar to tuna but is tender and juicy, with plenty of other Mediterranean ingredients on the plate.

For dessert, the rich chocolate lava cake is superb with a coffee. You can even choose to finish the meal in the garden surrounded by fairy lights. Find The Gardens of Dinsor Palace half way between Thonglor and Ekkamai BTS Skytrain stations on Sukhumvit Road. Despite its downtown location, the setting feels secluded and exclusive even though it costs little more than an average meal in a shopping mall.
